Synopsis

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical. Joseph’s journey, as a blessed boy with prophetic dreams, leads him to a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gun and rock ‘n’ roll, this Old testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.

Joseph Preview (Curtain Calls 3.2, July 2007)

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was the third time that this popular musical had been presented at Players. This time around it was as a Theatre For Young People/Fundraiser production. There were two raffles held during this production: a ‘The Big Dream’ raffle and a ‘Little Dream’ raffle. The Grand Prize for ‘The Big Dream’ raffle was four one day Hopper Passes for Disney World, and four other prizes ranging in value from $90 – $180. This drawing was held during the final performance at the intermission. The ‘Small Dreams’ raffle consisted of gift certificates and items donated by local merchants and other supporters of the theatre. These prizes were awarded at the intermissions of every performance. All 11 performances were all but sold out including the “Pay What You Can” performance. Notably, 425 tickets to Joseph were sold online.

The success of the show allowed Players to purchase new teasers (curtains that cover up the light pipes) and legs(the black long curtains that hang down to be used as masking the backstage areas as well as a new and longer scrim and track. The old scrim was tearing and only covered 30 feet. This new scrim now covered 35 feet.
