Historian’s Corner

“Ceiling Zero” was selected for presentation by the Community Players board in keeping with their desire to present a varied program during the season. The board had selected three comedies, a romance drama, and with “Ceiling Zero,” a large cast drama about the early aviation business. To help temper the tragic elements in the play, there were also some light comedic moments. Frank Wead, the author, was born in Peoria, Illinois, and was an aviator turned screenwriter. Frank wrote all three versions of “Ceiling Zero”: the novel, the Broadway play, and the Hollywood screenplay.
