Getting Involved > AuditioningWho May Audition? When Are Auditions? How Are Auditions Conducted? The second section of the musical audition is a dance audition. No dance experience is required. The dance audition determines how well a person is able to move and learn simple dance steps. Dance auditions may be more complex if the musical calls for complex dance numbers. The third section of the audition is reading scenes from the script. The director is looking for the individual's ability to interpret the script and interact with others. The director usually has in mind a certain physical type for a character and might take that into consideration (for example a family needs to look like a family). For non-musicals auditions typically consist of reading from the script as above. Preparing To Audition The most import aspect of the audition is to have fun!
